What are the library’s hours?

The REALTOR® University Library’s hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:00 pm Central Time. However, check our calendar for the most up-to-date information.

How do I create a library account?

All REALTOR® University students, faculty and staff will receive a login from the library upon entry into the program. If you need login assistance, contact us at 800.874.6500 or email infoservices @ realtors.org.

How do I check out an eBook or audiobook?

To access Adobe eBooks, make sure you’ve downloaded the *free* Adobe Digital Editions software, then download the eBook from ebooks.realtor.org. Next, open the Adobe Digital Editions program on your computer to view, read, or transfer your audiobook to another device; you may be prompted to set up a *free* Adobe account which wil allow you to read/trasfer your eBooks to multiple devices. Next, open Adobe Digital Editions, click the Library View icon (icon of three books, in upper left-hand corner), double-click on title of downloaded eBook in the right-hand pane.  Use the left-hand pane to navigate through the eBook.

If you don’t see anything in My Digital Editions, go to eBooks.realtor.org, click on My eBook Account, sign in with your NRDS number, click My eBookshelf, and then click on Download (just below the image of the book cover).  The defaults are built into the download process, so simply follow the prompts as they appear.  (The ‘Easy Activation’ process will allow you to access the eBook from the computer you’re now using, if you opt not to use the ‘Named Activation’ process.)

For audiobooks, make sure you’ve downloaded the *free* OverDrive Media Console software and then download the audiobook from ebooks.realtor.org. Next, open OverDrive Media Console program on your computer to view, listen, or transfer your audiobook to another device.

How many eBooks can I check out at one time?

REALTOR® University students, faculty and staff may check out up to 6 eBooks at a time. PDF or EPUB items can be returned early using the Adobe Digital Editions software.

I am having trouble re-checking out an expired eBook: What do I do?

If you check out an Adobe eBook, but don’t finish it in the 21 day lending period you can re-check it out if no one else has reserved it. Sometimes though the system says you still have the old expired file in your computer and won’t allow you to view it. Here’s how you can fix the issue:

Please note, when looking at the title on your eBookshelf the ‘download’ button should be visible. If not or it says “disabled, please contact…” one of our librarians will need to reauthorize the download.

If you have Internet Explorer 7:
1. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options.
2. On the ‘General’ tab, in the Browsing history’ section, click the
‘Delete’ button.
3. Click the ‘Delete all’ button at the bottom of this menu.
4. Click ‘Yes’.

Next, please remove the title(s) from Adobe Reader (if they are there) by following the steps below:

If you have Adobe Reader 6.0:

1. Click on File > My Bookshelf. Right-click on the cover image of the
title and select ‘Delete from Bookshelf’.

2. Navigate to My Documents\My eBooks\ and delete the book if it is
present.

3. Back in Adobe Reader, click on File > My Bookshelf. Right-click in
the Bookshelf window and choose ‘Refresh My Bookshelf’. After the
Bookshelf is finished refreshing, close the Bookshelf and Adobe Reader.

4. Go to the library website and download the book again.

If you have Adobe Reader 7.0:

1. Click on File > Digital Editions > My Digital Editions. Right-click
on the cover image of the title and select ‘Remove’.

2. Navigate to My Documents\My Digital Editions\ and delete the book if it is present.

3. Go to the library website and download the book again.

I received an error message when downloading an audiobook: What do I do?

The error message can usually be resolved by reinstalling OverDrive Media Console using the following steps:

Note: Please make sure to follow each step carefully.

1. Uninstall the OverDrive Media Console.

2. Rename the file capicom.dll to capicom.dll.bak This file is located in C:\Windows\System32\

3. Install the OverDrive Media Console again. The installation may be downloaded from this URL:
http://www.overdrive.com/files/ODMediaConsoleSetup.msi

4. Attempt to download an OverDrive Audiobook again

How do I check out a print book or report?

Once you find a print item(s) in our library catalog that you would like to check out, click “Request items” in the top right menu; this will prompt you to enter your login.* Once you have placed your request for an item, a librarian will be in touch with you within 1 business day to arrange for delivery. There is a $10 shipping fee to ship up to 3 items at a time. Checkout period is 30 days.

*If you do not yet have a library login, email infoservices @ realtors.org and we’ll create your account within 1 business day.

How many print books can I check out at one time?

You can check out up to 3 print items from our collection at one time for a period of 2 weeks. There is a $10 shipping fee to send you these items.
